Mother's Day at the Orchard (5.14.17)

  1. What comes to mind when you hear, “mother,” or “mom?” Why or why not? Describe your mother.

  2. If you were writing a sermon on “Four Things Every Mother Should Know,” what would you include?

  3. Read Isaiah 49:14-15. God compares him relationship to his people like that of a mother to her child. Why are mothers good illustrations for God’s love? Be specific as you can.

  4. Read Luke 14:26 and Mark 10:29-30. Jesus relativizes the role and influence of mothers. Why does he do this?

  5. The 6th commandment says, “Honor your father and mother.” How does an adult do this? How can a dishonorable mother be honored? What are the limits of honor to be given to a parent?

  6. Pray for the mothers in your group, as well as mothers who come to mind.
