Heaven and Hell: Is Eternity Real?

Jun 1, 2025    James Allison

We all know death is a subject most people try to avoid. And hell? That’s even further off the table, especially in casual conversation.

But right now, on college campuses around the country, people are asking deep and urgent questions about eternity. And we can’t afford to ignore them. It’s so important that we know what we believe, and just as important, how to talk about these things.

So today, I want to start with two of the most important questions you could ever ask—of yourself or anyone else. In fact, I encourage you to write these down. These are the questions we’re going to wrestle with together.

Question one:

On a scale from 1 to 10, how certain are you that you’d go to heaven if you died right now?

Don’t say it out loud—just hold that number in your mind.

1 meaning, "I’m not sure at all."

10 meaning, "I know beyond a shadow of a doubt."

Question two:

If you stood before Jesus today, and He asked you,

"Why should I let you into My Kingdom?"

What would you say?

How you answer those two questions doesn’t just shape your eternity—it will shape how you live every moment you have left.
