Freedom from Slavery

Life is full. Our lives are incredibly busy. Most of us are running from one thing to the next with our minds being pulled in a hundred directions. The enemy of our souls has us chasing after so many things.

As we move towards the to do list, we begin to move towards checking the box. And over time the things of God can become routine. We get comfortable. And the longer you are in the church the more tempting it is to drift from truly experiencing the grace of God to trying to live in your own strength.

The enemy of your soul is crafty, he's somehow taken what it means to belong to Jesus and he’s twisted it into trying to be a “good person” or simply “showing up on Sunday morning”. The enemy has taken obedience to God and in many of our minds, he has turned it into the things we have to do to be right with God -- the things we have to do to be accepted by God -- or he things we better do or God will be mad at us.

The enemy has distorted obedience and makes it all about us instead of the grace that actually saved us. And when that happens, we miss the wonder, the awe, the freedom that comes from being fully alive in Christ. Our passage today is a Spirit-breathed reminder of what it means to live as sons and daughters — not slaves. Lean in and open your heart. Because Jesus wants to shatter every chain that’s holding you back. He wants you to experience the freedom He paid for.
