Nothing Can Separate Us From His Love

From about 1942 to 1947, the effects of World War 2 began to press in as the government began rationing several commodities that were limited in supply. The ration stated that you weren't to buy more than the minimum amount of: sugar, meat, coffee, certain canned goods, tires, and even shoes, because too much was needed for the war effort. 

The war had ended in 1945, but the rations continued. Anticipating the return of her boys from war, Mama Allison used her entire sugar ration for a single day - every day - to bake a fresh cake. Every day, she believed one of her three boys might be coming home that day from war, and she wanted them to know how much she missed them and how much she loved them! It was a remarkable gesture of LOVE and expectance. Fruits and vegetables, were not rationed much in that day. She could have just put out a spread of fruit or some fresh vegetables, but to her, that didn't mean the same as a fresh cake. Her boys, in her mind and heart, demanded her best! There were no telephones, and post cards were unreliable from overseas. For months and months, she baked a fresh cake every single day, ready for her son's arrival.

There’s just something about the love that a mother has for her children. That supernatural heart connection... There aren’t many things that a mama wouldn’t do for her children. I’m sure if I were to take a microphone and ask you, “Does Jesus love you?” I’m sure you would be conditioned to say “yes”. But if I hooked you up to a lie detector, especially right after you failed again for the 100th time, what would the machine tell me?

I believe God is inviting us into something this morning. What would your life look like if you believed that God really does love you more than you could possibly love yourself? How would your life change if you truly believed that he is longing for you to come to Him. That he is for you, and nothing could ever separate you from His love?
