Day 27 - James Allison

Dec 23, 2022    James Allison

Physical hunger and thirst have a way of grabbing our attention. It's impossible to ignore a dry mouth or a stomach churning with hunger, especially with the delightful smell of a holiday meal coming from the kitchen. While I can't skip a meal without starting to recognize the effects, far too often, I'll go without eating spiritually, not even realizing my soul is empty and longs to be filled. Just like manna in the wilderness was only meant for that day, Jesus is the true bread come down from Heaven to give abundant life for this day. It's impossible to keep going on yesterday's bread. We need His leading. We are so frail. We can't even keep ourselves awake, much less keep ourselves alive. We need the Bread of Life every day. Jesus is the only one who truly satisfies and sustains our souls!

Are you feeling worn out or run down? Jesus says, "I have everything you need for this moment in life." "Come all you who are weary. Come all you who are thirsty. Come to the well that never runs dry." (John 4) Drink of His mercy! Taste of His goodness! Find what your soul is so desperately searching for! Believe that He is longing and waiting to meet you today at the table of grace.

Focus on God. Surrender to His control. Follow His leading. Trust Him today. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He will never cast you out. We can have as much of Him as we want! Feast on the Bread of Life in His Word, and over this busy holiday season, don't forget to feed your soul.
