Day 6 - James Moseley
More than twenty times in the gospel of John, you will find Jesus using these words “Truly, truly…”. It is as though Jesus is saying, “Pay attention to this! What I am about to say is so important!”
It is one thing for someone in my life to tell me to listen, but anytime they have said, “You had better listen!” my ears are tuned in because of the importance of what they were about to say. In this case, Jesus is the one speaking, and we should be on the edge of our seats, ready to hear what He has to say.
The one thing all people have in common is that we are born dead. Not in our flesh, but in our spirit. We all have sinned, which means spiritually, we all are born dead, and we are all in need of life. If you are dead, you are dead. The only thing a dead person needs is life! No house, car, food, or amount of money can change that. The only thing that could change that is life, and the only thing our spirit needs is life. The lost sinner is helpless to save himself, and they certainly cannot give life to themselves or others.
The only way dead sinners are raised from the dead is by hearing God’s word and believing in God’s son, who is Jesus. Take time this morning to praise Him for giving you life. Who are people in your life that need to hear this message of our Savior and need the one thing that can bring them life?
